Dean Row Clubs Spring Term 2006
11th January 2006
Dear Parent,
We resume clubs next week.
The cheer-dancing club, organised through our sports partnership with
Wilmslow High School is now expected to start after half term rather
than straight away as originally planned; I apologise for any disappointment
this may cause.
Mrs Mullen’s sewing club on Thursdays may be delayed as
Mrs Mullen has been taken unwell and we do not know when she will
return.
We are keen to encourage the children to join in with voluntary activities,
but this does mean making a commitment. Last term a disappointingly
high number of children signed up for clubs then changed their minds,
taking
the places that other children might have enjoyed instead. I have
spoken to the children about this and hope that this term clubs are only
signed
up for when the child is willing to make the commitment to come regularly.
This term the children can sign up for clubs on lists at school. We
will help the younger children and newcomers with this. Acceptance
notes offering places on the clubs will be sent home on Friday this week.
Please note that our system for dealing with cancelled clubs is as
follows:
If the club is cancelled in advance we will inform all the club members
who should arrange to go home in the normal way.
If the club is cancelled on the day the children will either stay
in school until 4.15 watching TV or they will leave school to go
home.
You are asked to indicate which of these you would like your child
to do.
We have this “TV or home” option because we have found
that in practice it is impossible for us to telephone all parents
in the event
of last-minute club cancellations.
